COVID-19 Protocols

We at The Symes put your health and safety first and foremost. In accordance with the guidelines set out by the Government of Ontario, we have set out the following protocols and procedures. 

 

GUEST EXPERIENCE                    
  • The Symes venue will operate at the capacity allowed by the Government of Ontario. For Phase 3, this means up to 100 guests in the patio or 50 indoors for a reception including Food and Beverage. For ceremonies only, the capacity is 105 guests in The Scarlett Room and 150 guests in Grand Symes.

  • The Symes has implemented a “check-in” for all guests entering the venue. All guests will be required to provide their name, phone number, email and number of people with them. They will also be asked about any recent travel history or COVID- related health concerns. In the chance there is a case of COVID-19 at the venue, public health will use that list to notify anyone who was at The Symes during that time.

  • If any guests answer yes to any of the “check-in” questions, they will not be allowed into the venue. 

  • There will be marked waiting spots for guests at the entrance, keeping the entrance clear of any gathering.                     

  • Seating for dining will be set up for 6 to 10  people and with at least 2m of space between seating areas to maintain distance between bubbles.

  • Where possible, we will have staff and guests move through the venue in one direction, i.e. in a clockwise direction.

  • We have suspended coat check services at this time.

  • Guests are required to wear masks when at the venue except when seated at their designated tables.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

We have also invested in proper signage and equipment to help our staff and guests adhere to the following additional provincial guidelines:

  • Indicators on the floor to ensure maintaining 6 feet of physical distancing whenever possible.  

  • Hand sanitizing stations, to be used upon entering the venue, and frequently throughout the event.

  • Markings in both our freight and passenger elevators to limit capacity. 

  • We will require all staff to wear proper masks or shields. 

  • Guests are encouraged to wear masks while inside except for eating/drinking

  • Guest bathrooms will be cleaned and disinfected every hour by The Symes team members. Door Handles, toilet (seat-lid-handle), sink faucet, paper towel dispenser, soap dispenser, light switch and door handles will be wiped down. 

  • We will continue to ensure the utmost level of cleanliness and sanitization with full venue cleans before and after events with the use of commercial-grade cleaners and disinfectants.

 

FOOD & BEVERAGE Service
  • Staff will be required to wear masks and gloves at all times and will be required to maintain physical distancing as much as possible. 

  • At this time, all bar service will be served by staff


Outside Vendors

As our industry partners, we appreciate your patience as we work to maintain a safe space. We ask that all vendors entering the building wear a mask and “check-in” and follow the directions given by our team for loading in/out areas and protocols - if you have any further questions please reach out to our team.
